February 7, 2012 -- Cloud provider Amazon Web Services has lowered the prices on its storage solution Amazon S3, according to a blog post on Monday. At the end of 2011, Amazon S3 hosted 762 billion objects, and processed more than 500,000 requests per second, and the decrease in storage prices reflects the high demand for cloud storage.

February 7, 2012 -- - Web hosting provider Hostway announced on Tuesday it has launched FlexLink, which offers an individual, private VLAN connection to enable users to deploy hybrid cloud solutions for increased security. The hybrid cloud solutions will allow a company to combine Hostway's managed public cloud infrastructure solution, FlexCloud, with managed hosting, colocation and private cloud services to achieve the optimal compute environment for their needs.

February 6, 2012 -- Colocation firm Online Tech announced on Monday that it will provide colocation services for online backup services provider Cogitate. This news comes a month after Online Tech completed a fiber optic build-out between its Ann Arbor and mid-Michigan data centers.

In the role Golden will be responsible for helping enStratus customers build operations based on the enStratus cloud management platform.

February 6, 2012 -- Web hosting provider Canadian Web Hosting announced on Monday that it has launched the new version of its website. The company says its new design and layout emphasizes its recently launched CA cloud infrastructure and cloud hosting solutions. This new website comes a month after Canadian Web Hosting began to distribute Joyent's SmartDataCenter product through a partnership with Green Data Centre Inc.

February 6, 2012 -- Colocation hosting and Internet backbone provider Hurricane Electric announced on Monday that it has partnered with the Brazilian Network Information Center to provide its IPv6 certification program in Portuguese.

February 6, 2012 -- Data center operator Tulip Data Center Services, a subsidiary of Tulip Telecom, announced on Monday it has launched "Tulip Data City" data center in Bengaluru, India. The data center is considered the largest in Asia, according to the press release. The $185 million data center is a multi-tiered facility built to tier 4 and tier 3 standard, and is expected to save close to 35 MW power at full capacity.

February 6, 2012 -- Web hosting provider SoftLayer Technologies announced on Monday it has named Walter Z. Berger its chief financial officer, effective in March. Berger will replace Mike Jones, who has served as CFO since June of 2005. The press release did not disclose the reasons for Jones' departure.

February 3, 2012 -- Cloud computing solutions and managed IT service provider Claris Networks announced on Friday it has named Walt Robinson as senior vice president of corporate development. He will be located in the company's Chattanooga, Tennessee branch office, and he will service the surrounding region. Robinson brings more than 25 years of broad marketing, finance and corporate strategy experience to the role. He will be responsible for driving Claris' medium and large enterprise client strategies.

February 3, 2012 -- Non-profit research organization Media Matters for America has released statistics that illustrate how much media conglomerates spent on hiring firms to lobby SOPA and PIPA. In total, it is estimated that 28 different lobbying firms were hired to lobby Congress on SOPA and PIPA.
